We are a  non-profit based in South Berwick, SoBo Central was formed in 2009 to bring together citizens committed to a healthy, vibrant town. The organization provides an umbrella for groups putting on concerts, running the ski hill, nurturing our downtown, providing fuel and food for those in need and working to keep our town healthy - environmentally, socially and economically. We invite all residents and business people to join us for any and all of our events and programs

Sobo Central is proud to support the Great Works Bridge project, a grassroots community effort to build a covered, timber–frame pedestrian bridge to span the Great Works River at Vine Street.

By replacing the existing condemned bridge, this structure will reconnect our community, forge a link between our proud history and our bright future, and create a scenic landmark for South Berwick and the region.

This vision can only become a reality with the help of many hands and hearts. We encourage all residents and businesses in South Berwick and beyond to join this effort. There are ways to participate—from becoming a contributor to rolling up your sleeves.

Your generous contribution can help transform our vision of the Great Works Bridge into a reality that all of South Berwick's residents and visitors can enjoy for generations to come. The new bridge is estimated to cost $1,000,000. Our goal is to raise $600,000 in private funding. Meeting this goal will make us eligible for up to $400,000 from Maine's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Funding Program. Our Mission

SOBO CARES

South Berwick Cares is a non-profit organization that has joined SoBo Central. It has been created because of the financial struggles of some of our town’s families.

We are a non-profit organization that raises funds to help families in need with necessities throughout the school year.  We help during the holidays and raise funds to provide after school and summer opportunities to children whose families cannot afford them.

In the past Central School’s community has responded to these needs and has generously provided gifts during the holiday season. Because there are so many families in need this year we are reaching out to the broader community of South Berwick.

Here’s how you can help:

If you’d like to sponsor a family, sponsor an individual, or purchase a specific item, go to our Sign-Up Genius. CLICK HERE

If you’d like to make a monetary donation, go to SoBo Central’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sobocentral/, click on the donate button and write South Berwick Cares in the comment section. Please make donations as soon as possible so that the funds can be used for holiday giving. If there is an excess of donated funds, the money will be used to provide after school and summer activities for children.

Purchase gift cards from local stores and restaurants and drop them off at Central School by December 19th. Parents requested little to no items for themselves, so we could treat them to something special too.

If you’d like to claim your donation as a tax deduction, simply keep your receipt for your taxes.

SoBo Central is a nonprofit organization that supports programs that help make South Berwick a vibrant and caring community.
